Timeless Wisdom from the DrsHernandez Archives
by Dr. Connie Hernandez, ND
Many years ago, I had two kittens, Zip and Zap. Zip was named for his speedy ways. Zap was named for the singed corners of his mouth, a result of tangling with an electric cord.
Unlike kittens, we humans are taught from childhood about the dangers of being zapped by energy in the form of electricity, but many of us are only beginning to be aware of the dangers of energy in the form of wireless radiation.

The dawning awareness of the potential damage to human health is reflected in the concern about EMFs from WiFi, cell phones and cell towers, in the controversies surrounding back scatter scanning devices at airports, and in the recent protests re Smart Meter monitoring by PG&E.
(Studies indicate that smart meters expose people to significantly higher radiation levels than cell phones and WiFi. And the World Health Organization has categorized the bursts of microwave RF radiation emitted by smart meters as a class 2B carcinogen.)
Inasmuch as the cells of our body both emit and communicate with each other through electromagnetic radiation, it is logical that external sources of radiation could disrupt the body’s internal communication, with alarming negative consequences.
As a health care clinician, I’ve been aware of how the nature of my patients’ complaints has changed over time.
I opened my practice before the advent of widespread exposure to EMFs. Practicing in rural Vermont, I treated sore throats, ear infections, vaginitis, high cholesterol, and the like – common, seemingly timeless health issues.
While I still hear those complaints, of course, my current patients tend to have more multi-faceted complaints that are mysteriously unresponsive to conventional treatment protocols: autoimmunity, insomnia, bewildering weight gain, endocrine and neurotransmitter imbalances, mood disturbances, and other complex issues.
The odd thing is that patients with these complaints often do significantly better when they spend time away from their computers and phones in those rare places where our wonderful addictive technologies are either unavailable or they’ve been rejected. Think of a vacation in high mountains without a cell signal, or adventure travel to wild places where modern electronics have never penetrated.
I’m not suggesting that RF radiation is now the single source of every baffling health issue. I’m simply suggesting that perhaps we should add “time-out from RF rays” to our diagnostic tool chest.
