HONEY AND COFFEE PASTE CAN TREAT PERSISTENT COUGHS
In at least one double-blind randomized controlled study, a combination of honey and coffee paste was compared with 13.3 mg of prednisone and 25 mg of guaifenesin to treat persistent post-infectious coughs.
The honey and coffee paste composed of 20.8 grams of honey with 2.9 grams of instant coffee won out – dramatically. (The study doesn’t mention that the instant coffee should be organic. We would also recommend that the honey be raw organic manuka honey, which has many studies acknowledging its therapeutic benefits.) MORE INFORMATION HERE.
COFFEE CAN REDUCE THE RECURRENCE OF ATRIAL FIBRILATION
A recent article by David Perlmutter, MD cited a “DECAF trial” in which 47% of patients who consumed moderate amounts of caffeinated coffee had recurrence of atrial flutter or fibrillation after successful cardioversion, while 64% of those who didn’t drink coffee had recurrence.
Dr. Perlmutter suggests that it may be the anti-inflammatory polyphenols in coffee, plus the mild diuretic effect, that help reduce blood pressure and fluid retention, in addition to the lifestyle variable of increased daily physical activity among coffee drinkers. Note that we’re talking moderate coffee intake , not caffeine exposure per se. MORE INFORMATION HERE
THE SURPRISING BENEFITS OF PUTTERING
Clean out the drawers. Wash the windows. Gaze out the window at the clouds. Turns out, the guilt we feel while “wasting time” and “being unproductive” is merely a Western cultural anomaly.
Far from being time-wasters, research suggests that light, leisurely, unstructured tasks can improve mood, support metabolic and cardiovascular health, and even help us live longer. MORE INFORMATION HERE.
ROUNDUP (GLYPHOSATE) POISONING IN AMERICAN CHILDREN: IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MONEY
Agricultural chemicals routinely used in the U.S. are commonly prohibited in other countries.
Why are they permitted here? Money. Power.
As of 2015, Monsanto (now owned by Bayer) had generated roughly $4.76 billion in annual sales and $1.9 billion in gross profits from glyphosate-based herbicides like Roundup.
This, despite numerous studies that have connected Roundup to an alarming number of serious diseases, including cancer.
A frightening new study found that a whopping 87% of American children have glyphosate in their tissues. Glyphosate is routinely used in the U.S. on genetically modified crops such as corn, soybeans, and wheat, as well as oats, legumes, and other produce.
It is also present in many lawn care products for home and commercial use. Unfortunately, the sad truth is that lobbyists with deep pockets have major control over public policy. MORE INFORMATION HERE.
